2022.01.19 02:25 fgghfgghfgghfgg1603 I wanted to share my thoughts on the finale. I know this sub gets a lot of these but I feel I have some original thoughts that I wanted to get out.
Wanted to write out my thoughts on the ending of HIMYM and why it kind of sucks.
First of all, let’s talk about Ted and Robin getting together at the very end. It doesn’t really make sense to me. People say “Ted and Robin was always the end game, just look at episode 1”. What happens in episode one? The narration at the end literally says “and that is the story of how I met your aunt Robin”. The first episode tells us then and there that they don’t happen, completely turning us off from them being together. I don’t mind them dating in the middle of the show because it is important to everything else that happens and their character’s growth, especially Ted’s growth surrounding waiting for “the one” and finding true love (Tracy), but by the end of the show, Ted and Robin is not on our minds, and we don’t want it to be on our minds because we just got our hearts broken with the divorce and Tracy dying. To add on, the fact that the entire show is supposedly Ted telling his kids that he’s still in love with Robin, and is asking for their permission to ask her out again is stupid. Watching the show, I don’t get any sense of that being what it’s about.
Secondly I want to talk about the divorce. We spend years before the last season watching the relationship between Robin and Barney take shape. Then we get to see Barney finally propose to Robin in a… interesting way, and everyone is happy. We then spend an ENTIRE SEASON at their wedding, waiting for Robin to get to the end of the aisle. Then in the VERY NEXT EPISODE, they divorce. From a Barney perspective, the whole plot around their wedding is amazing, because it really shows how his character grew over the show, and how he is a better person and ready for commitment. Then the divorce happens and he goes back to his womanizing ways and all his character development goes down the drain. From a Robin perspective the plot around their wedding goes against her whole principles around settling down and getting married. So from her perspective it makes sense that she ends up alone focusing on her career. But at the same time, her getting married and settling down, can show her character growth too, and how her relationships with Ted and Barney (and Kevin a little bit) helped her get to a point in her life where she thought she could settle down. They either should have either never started their relationship again so that Robin could stay true to her character, and Barney would either end up the same way he does in the show (womanizing etc.…), or they could have found another way for character development without Robin; OR, they needed to do the relationship like they did, but not break them up at the end, so that Barney kept his character development, and Robin kept some of her character development.
Now on to Tracy dying (casually starts tearing up). I just want to start by saying I LOVE Tracy, and I LOVE Christin Milioti and how she played her. It was perfect. Her chemistry with Ted, the way she interacted with the rest of the group, it just fit. We spend 8 seasons waiting to meet her, and then in the season 8 finale we finally meet her, and it's great. Then we spend the Wedding season, learning about her, and watching the group meet her, and most importantly, seeing her and Ted’s relationship in the future. She lived up to all the expectations and more. Then they went and killed her. I watched the alternate ending for like an hour straight after I finished my first watch because I was so heart broken. I would listen to Tracy’s Vie En Rose to go to bed. So obviously this plot annoys the heck out of me. People say how it’s a good ending because it is “realistic” and stuff like that. Well fuck that. This is a sitcom. I’m not watching this for reality. I’m watching this to laugh, and to see a nice love story with a happy ending, so that argument is stupid. The fact that the writers had 2 endings, and they decided to go with the sad one, just boggles my mind. I don’t understand why you would want to end your sitcom that way. Secondly, Ted is telling this story to his kids, and people say Tracy dying is the only way him telling the story makes sense. I disagree because my dad just randomly decided to tell me how he and my mom met while we were sitting on the couch, and I’m sure many other parents have too. It doesn't have to be just because Tracy died. I also think it’s in character for Ted to tell an insanely long story that could be shorter, because that’s how he is. Again, I don’t think it needs to be because Tracy died. Also, as other people have said, It would be an amazing ending had Tracy walked into the room after Ted said “and that kids, is how I met your mother”, and said something like “he's still telling you the story”, would have been great. People who defend the ending also talk about how it was planned from the beginning, and the kid actors had already filmed their parts because they would be too old at the end. None of that is a good enough reason to end the show that way. Having something planned in your sitcom does not mean that is EXACTLY what needs to happen. It’s like the writers decided to write everything day 1, and we're too stubborn to change anything as the show progressed and changed. Their story might have worked if the show ended after 2-4 seasons, but after that the show really starts to change course from the Ted and Robin side of things, so the audience no longer roots for them. Why throw a 180 punch in the face on us in the last episode?! Also, when Chandler and Monica hooked up in London, the FRIENDS writers didn’t intend on them becoming a couple, getting married and having kids, it was just supposed to be a hookup. But they saw the audience's reaction, and decided to change their plans, and it was one of the best decisions they ever made. Why couldn’t the HIMYM writers do the same? They saw how everyone was reacting to Barney and Robin, and to Tracy. People loved it. Why couldn’t they alter their plans slightly (it would not have been that hard), and end it on a happy note. As for the kids already filming their bits and not being able to come back, why couldn't they? Makeup, technology to make them look younger could easily fix that; OR, just have the actors look older and film new lines to fit with the new ending, and then make a joke about how they grew up because Ted’s story was just so damn long. Would have been a funny sort of 4th wall breaking. Now I want to address the “foreshadowing” that defends Tracy dying. Sure, the song being called “funeral” when Tracy’s cab pulls up at Farhampton could be sly foreshadowing to her dying to people in the know with the song. OR, it’s just a good song that fits the tone of that scene, and they used it. Of course I don’t know if the writers meant to foreshadow it, or if it was just a coincidence, but I don’t think that takes away from my argument that the song’s name really doesn’t matter. Now the 45 days scene in the time travelers episode. People defending Tracy dying are always saying how that scene is emotional because of her death, but when I first watched it (I knew that Tracy ended up dying because of an unfortunate google search), I wasn’t even thinking about her dying, I just thought it showed how Ted was impatient with how long it was taking for him to get the ending he deserved, and, well simply because he is a gooey romantic. I mean let's be honest, if you were 45 days away from meeting the love of your life, and you were dating an absolutely batshit crazy woman and watching 2 of your bestfriends prepare for their wedding(one of them being the person you thought would be the person you end up with), would you not want to meet her earlier? Now the “what mother misses her own daughter's wedding.” This is the only part in the entire series that I can see foreshadowing her death. Going into it knowing she died, I got sad at this moment. But again, doesn’t have to be emotional because she ends up dying and not getting to see her daughter's wedding. It could easily have been because her own mother, or Ted's mother died before their wedding, which easily could have been mentioned in the finale to pay off that line, because if they were ok with a throw away line killing off Tracy, why couldn’t they use a throwaway line to kill of Ted’s mom (who frankly no one really cared for), or Tracy’s mom (who we never even met).
The finale would not have been that hard to change to a happy ending that makes everyone satisfied. The first 10-12 minutes of the first part is good, and then you could edit certain scenes from the rest of that episode and the second part (ending with the alternate ending), so you get a 1 part finale that is good, that completely avoids the divorce and Tracy dying.
One more overall thing. I think some of the things they were trying to do or convey across the show, such as Ted and Robin being endgame etc, could have made sense, but the writers just did a shit job of doing it. Each individual episode is really good and well written, but for the story the writers wanted to tell, I think they did a terrible job stringing together the individual stories to make their ending satisfying or make any sense.
I think that’s it, but there is probably more. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, happy to discuss (I know this post probably sounded kinda salty lol, but I just really don’t like the ending and am passionate about arguing against it). And I know this sub gets a million of these posts a day, but I thought I had some points I had never seen before and wanted to make a post outlining my own personal thoughts (as unique or common as they are). Thanks for reading this book lol.
PS, why did Marshall's mom and Lily’s dad get a happy ending together but Ted and Tracy couldn’t!

Rn don't know what I'm doing. "hey I know what Luna and UST are maybe I should do a pool related to that!" comes to mind
But also "but wait what if luna crashes and everyone swaps to UST and then I'm stuck with the crashed luna/left holding the bag?" enters my mind
And "same thing w/ atom/osmo what if one crashes and I'm left w/ the bag"
"DYOR" - Right so if I don't feel I can get familiar enough with the tokens, then perhaps I should stay away from this and stick to anchor protocol?

2022.01.19 02:25 YOLOTREND 19 Jan 2022: My thoughts on Chinese Big Tech
My youtube channel:
Do subscribe to my youtube channel if you want good analysis. Will be doing less cross-posting to other reddit community going forward.
While US big techs are doing very well for many years by now, what I do want to emphasise is the point that this may not be the case for Chinese big tech at least in terms of share price outperformance. Why?
If you see the news on US review of Alibaba cloud, Lithuania concerns over data security concerning Xiaomi phone, Huawei being included in Sanction list, etc, I have to ay that the days ahead for Chinese big tech will not be smooth sailing. Yes Alibaba and Tencent have both come down alot from all time peak but Alibaba's days ahead will not be smooth sailing. For Tencent, I still prefer it over Alibaba.
With antitrust measures against Chinese big tech and the technological competition between US and China, the Chinese big tech like Alibaba and Tencent will not be having good days. Xiaomi is still alot smaller than that of Alibaba and may be still be supported by Chinese authorities since Xiaomi belongs to the hard tech part. It is working on chip developments as well as electric vehicle manufacturing, which is consistent with China's carbon reduction plan.
So all in all, I will stay out of Alibaba and will continue to do so unless it hits 80 USD before I revisit the company again to make a reassessment. I believe other smaller chinese tech stocks will do better in terms of price outperformance in 2022.
As always, this should not be construed as any investment or trading advice.
